I'm not sure yet about hiring a person who has a disability

https://www.disability.gov/employment/employer_resources is pretty much a one-stop website for employers who are thinking about hiring a person who has a disability. It covers recruitment, retention, and incentive programs amongst other topics.

The Washington Initiative for Supported Employment (WISe) has a website which gives a brief overview of its services at http://www.wiseemployers.com/. WISe can help you find applicants who have disabilities as well as provide consultation on hiring and keeping employees who have disabilities. The website contains several testimonials from employers in the region.

Often employers are concerned that a person's work will be affected by the symptoms of a person's mental illness. A discussion of those concerns with data can be found at www.onestops.info/article.php?article_id=62

At http://www.thefsagroup.com/CMHA/pdfLib/CMHA_workingwell_EN.pdf you can download a free book entitled "Working Well: An employer's guide to hiring and retaining people with mental illness."

At http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pxrS-jQwtI there is a Youtube video entitled "Why Should I hire Someone with a Mental Illness". It features several employers talking about their experiences in hiring people who have mental illnesses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts2DzOTZP9g&feature=youtu.be has a video of Washington State citizens who have mental illnesses and work including former King County Executive Randy Revelle.

http://www.dartmouth.edu/~ips/page4/page1/page1.html This is an all-around good website for information about supported employment sponsored by Dartmouth University. It contains a number of videos including ones on the advantages of hiring someone who has a psychiatric disability, the experiences of other employers and services provided by Supported Empoloyment programs.

http://www.awbinstitute.org/greatmindswork/ The Washington State Workforce Board has put together a website for Washington employers that outlines why employing people who have disabilities is a good policy.

http://usodep.blogs/govdelivery.com/2013/06/07/three-tips-for-increasing-employment-opportunities-for-people-with-disabilities/ blogs related to disability and employment (and many other issues) can be found here. You can ask questions, read currently active blogs or search the archives. A well-organized website.
