Documentation Notes

The pages that follow contain some of the documentation related to the NSMHA Consumer Information System. Many of the transactions listed herein mimic the elements contained in the respective table. The exceptions being the Batch Header, Authorization Request, Inpatient Services, and Outpatient Services; the latter three of which respectively utilize the 278, 837I, and 837P HIPAA transactions.

It is understood that, although some transactions are listed with a Status of Final, there may be modifications that are necessary as a result of testing.

Some transactions are Global Records. These transactions are identified in the Transaction Notes section as such.

Effective 01 April 2005:
Email notification will be of auto processing failures only. We will be taking an increased proactive role in confirming the file process to aid in triggering support issues that could be resolved without third party impact.

Expectation for the file return is within 24-hours of file processing. If a file is scheduled to process at 10:00 a.m., then the return file will be available for pick up at 10:00 a.m. the next business day unless notified of an issue.

The copy process that had occurred every 10-minutes will be change to once per day at 9:30 a.m. It is recommended that files be placed in the SFTP directory well before the '9:30 a.m. copy time' to avoid incomplete file transfers.

Dates:
As a general rule, any date submitted, except as noted below, shall not be in the future. The following fields will accept dates in the future:

  • rstco.tdate
    • This is to be the date in which the consumers eligibility ends per their Medicaid coupon.
  • Rauth.optdate^
    • This is the end date for the consumers outpatient authorization period. This is a calculated field. If a consumer's authorization is terminated early, the early termination date is captured in a separate field.
  • Rfore.foaptd
    • The first offered and accepted appointment date may be in the future from when the transaction is processed.
